Question 1

What is Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) in cats?

Accepted Answer

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal viral disease in cats caused by a mutated form of feline coronavirus. It progresses rapidly in wet (effusive), dry (non-effusive), neurological, and ocular forms. Without antiviral treatment, FIP is nearly always fatal within days to weeks of symptom onset.

Question 2

Can FIP be treated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GS-441524, an antiviral compound, has demonstrated high efficacy in putting FIP into remission across clinical studies and real-world treatment of more than 100,000 cats globally since 2019. Treatment requires a consistent 84-day daily protocol followed by an 84-day observation period.

Question 3

What should I do if my cat is diagnosed with FIP in Australia or New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

Contact an FIP specialist immediately. Time is critical. Request a full diagnosis including blood panel and imaging. Begin a GS-441524 protocol as soon as possible, as delays worsen outcomes. CureFIP Oceania ships to all Australian and NZ addresses via DHL/FedEx with priority handling.

Question 4

What is GS-441524 and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

GS-441524 is a nucleoside analogue antiviral that inhibits the replication of feline coronavirus, the virus responsible for FIP. Administered daily as an injection or oral capsule over 84 days, it has shown remission rates above 85% in published clinical studies when dosed correctly.

Question 5

How long does FIP treatment take?

Accepted Answer

The standard protocol is 84 days of daily GS-441524 treatment followed by an 84-day monitoring period. Most cats show visible improvement within the first two weeks. Consistency in dosing is essential, as missed or reduced doses are the primary cause of treatment failure.

Question 6

How much does FIP treatment cost in Australia?

Accepted Answer

Treatment cost depends on your cat's weight, FIP type, and whether injectable or oral capsules are selected. Heavier cats and neurological/ocular FIP cases typically require higher doses. Contact our team for a personalised cost estimate based on your cat's specifics. We will give you a clear number before you commit to anything.

Question 7

What types of FIP can be treated with GS-441524?

Accepted Answer

GS-441524 is effective across all major forms of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP): wet (effusive), dry (non-effusive), neurological, and ocular. The dosing protocol and concentration differ by FIP type. Neurological and ocular cases typically require higher doses. Our team will confirm the correct protocol for your cat's specific diagnosis before treatment begins.

Question 8

How do I know if my cat is responding to treatment?

Accepted Answer

Most cats show visible improvement within the first 7 to 14 days, including increased energy, improved appetite, and reduction in fever or fluid accumulation. Blood markers including albumin, globulin ratio, and white cell count typically begin normalising within the first few weeks. Our team provides week-by-week guidance on what to monitor and when to be concerned, throughout the full 84-day protocol.
