CaliciX™ Max is the high strength version of CaliciX™, formulated for cats with severe, refractory or high viral load Feline Calicivirus (FCV) infection, where the standard 15 mg strength is not enough. Each capsule contains 30 mg of pure EIDD-1931, pharmacologically equivalent to roughly 133 mg of molnupiravir.
It is intended for use under veterinary supervision in cats that need higher antiviral exposure because of disease severity, body weight, or a poor response to standard therapy.
Severe oral and oropharyngeal disease
- Severe Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS)
- Caudal stomatitis with extensive inflammation
- Ulcerative stomatitis that has not responded to dental extractions
- Deep lingual ulceration and viral glossitis
- Multifocal buccal, labial and palatal ulcers
These cats are typically in significant pain, drooling heavily, struggling to eat or swallow, losing weight, and showing persistent bad breath or oral bleeding.
Systemic and virulent disease
CaliciX™ Max may be considered where there is evidence of high systemic viral burden, including virulent systemic Feline Calicivirus (VS-FCV), fever and marked lethargy, facial or limb oedema, lameness, pulmonary involvement, or raised liver or pancreatic enzymes.
Refractory and relapsing cases
Cats with persistent Feline Calicivirus (FCV) shedding, post extraction Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) with an incomplete response, chronic stomatitis that relapses after steroid or immunosuppressive therapy, and larger cats who need higher exposure per dose.
Why the higher strength
EIDD-1931 is the active antiviral form of molnupiravir, so systemic exposure is predictable and does not rely on metabolic conversion from a prodrug. In severe disease, higher systemic concentrations may be needed to reduce viral replication quickly and limit ongoing mucosal and systemic injury. The 30 mg strength reaches those targets with fewer capsules per dose, which makes accurate dosing and daily compliance far more realistic in a cat that is already in pain.
CaliciX™ Max 30 mg High Potency EIDD-1931 for Severe Feline Calicivirus (FCV)
Dosed by body weight, twice daily, twelve hours apart:
- Cats under 2.5 kg: 1 capsule every 12 hours
- Cats 2.5 kg to 5 kg: 2 capsules every 12 hours
- Cats above 5 kg: 3 capsules every 12 hours
Size 3 capsules. The capsule can be given whole or opened and mixed through food.
Length of treatment: determined by your veterinarian based on your cat's response and the severity of disease. Do not reduce, taper or stop antiviral dosing without veterinary direction.
Ongoing veterinary review is recommended throughout treatment, particularly in cats with systemic involvement.
